Week One
Welcome to the 2014 Spring Weight Loss Challenge!
I welcome you to an exciting new program of events. This year we will work toward "Living Life to the Fullest"! How can you achieve this in your life? The answer to this question is going to be very different for each and everyone of us. What is your passion and how can you make that part of your daily activities? As we work together to increase our physical well being, your focus on self improvements will lead you down a personal path of self discovery. Please welcome the unknown and welcome the surprises.
Last year, we focused on creating wellness in every aspect of our lives: physical, emotional, spiritual, occupational, social and financial. When ever you want to review what we went over last year, click on the 2013 SWLC tab. It will take you through all the elements of wellness we discussed and you can feel free to include them in what we will be doing this time. This year's program will focus on dietary changes, specifically adapting to a plant based diet. We will be using the Plant Based Diet For Beginners: The Natural Way to Look & Feel Your Best by Susan Ellerbeck. You should be able to obtain an electronic version of this book on Amazon. I will be doing healthy food demonstrations every Tuesday at Church Avenue. Look out for that schedule on this website.
Rules of the challenge, contestants will be measured 4 times throughout the contest: March 17th, April 14th, May 12th and June 9th. The winners will be announced on June 16th. The winners will be assessed by identifying the individuals who have lost the highest percentage of their original body weight when entering the challenge. I strongly suggest for you to download the My Fitness Pal or Calorie Counter apps. They are very helpful in tracking your daily caloric intake and can give you suggestions about your current eating habits.

We will discuss your obstacles and triumphs during the challenge; what usually happens is that we learn a lot from each other.
